Thanks. I got it. I ended up taking a free blade hand hacksaw and made two cuts down opposite sides of the crimp connector. I cut it just enough to penetrate the metal part of the crimp. Then I split the crimp connector by wedging a screw driver in both halves of the connector to get it loose enough to brake the bottom collar. It was a fairly tedious operation with the limited space but successful. It turns out there is no barb on the pipe. It's just straight but has a bottom collar. I was able to do the cuts without nicking the collar so a new hose should seal around the collar. I have pictures but not sure how to upload them.
